Peripheral neuropathy refers damage to the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves), often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet. It can also affect other areas of your body.
Nerve impairment or damage can arise from a variety of
• Repetitive motions (e.g. typing, using mouse, mobile phone)
• Poor posture
• Chronic condition (e.g. diabetes)
• Viral infection (e.g. shingles)
• Prolonged alcohol abuse
• Smoking
• Malnutrition
• Sides effects of certain medications (e.g. chemotherapy, radiotherapy )
• Other unexplained causes
